UPPAbaby Cruz V2 Review: Still Worth Buying in 2026?

Short answer: The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is worth it on sale or secondhand, not near its last $1,000 list price. It has been replaced by the Cruz V3. The V2 weighs 25.5 lb, holds 30 lb in the basket and has all-wheel suspension. Its seat starts at 3 months, so newborns need extra gear. Check parts and recalls first.

The Cruz V2 was BabyGearLab's Editors' Choice for full-size strollers, and it still makes a sensible used buy. You get a 22.8 in wide frame, a 30 lb basket and all-wheel suspension at 25.5 lb, a pound lighter than the V3. What you give up is newborn readiness: the V3 seat lies flat from birth with an included insert, while the V2 seat starts at 3 months. Pay well under the V3's $899.99, and budget for a SnugSeat or bassinet if your baby is small.

Who is the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 for?

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 suits parents who want a premium full-size stroller for one child without paying new-stroller prices. It came out in 2020, according to Lucie's List, and UPPAbaby has since replaced it with the Cruz V3. BabyGearLab gave the V2 its Editors' Choice award and called it a good pick for families with one child to push. Today you will mostly find it secondhand, open-box or as leftover retailer stock. It makes the most sense if your baby is already 3 months old, or if you will clip on an infant car seat for the early weeks. If you want a seat that lies flat from birth, the Cruz V3 does that with an included insert. If a second child may ride soon, look at a single-to-double stroller instead, because the Cruz is a single stroller.

How does the Cruz V2 ride and steer?

The 2020 update gave the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 bigger, softer wheels and suspension on all four wheels, where the 2019 Cruz had it only at the front, according to Lucie's List. BabyGearLab found it steered well on flat ground and rough surfaces, with large foam-filled tires and front wheels that lock for uneven paths. The reviewers noted that three-wheel strollers handle curbs better and said the Cruz is not for jogging. Lucie's List described the ride as smooth and comfortable. The Cruz V3 adds UPPAbaby's FlexRide suspension and never-flat tires, so it may feel a little softer over cracks, but the V2 is already a good sidewalk, mall and park stroller. If you buy used, spin each wheel and check the brake before you pay.

How big is the Cruz V2 when folded?

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 weighs 25.5 lb with the seat, per Lucie's List, and BabyGearLab weighed it at 25 lb. Folded with the seat on, it measures 16.5 x 22.8 x 33 in, and about 12 x 22.8 x 30 in without the seat, per Snugglebugz. BabyGearLab called the fold easy and compact for its class, but it takes two hands and stands on its own only when the leg rest and handlebar are at their shortest settings. The V3 is a pound heavier at 26.5 lb and folds to 17 x 22.5 x 32.5 in with the seat, per UPPAbaby. Either fits most trunks, though a small hatchback will be tight. It is not a carry-on stroller.

Is the Cruz V2 comfortable and safe?

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 seat is rated from 3 months to 50 lb, per Snugglebugz. Lucie's List says the V2 seat back and leg rest are 2 in longer than the 2019 model's, the harness adjusts without rethreading, and the canopy is larger, with an extension panel, peek-a-boo window and mesh. BabyGearLab found the seat lightly padded and deep, with an adjustable leg rest, and measured the recline at almost 50 degrees, so it is not flat. For a newborn you need the Infant SnugSeat, which Lucie's List priced at $49, the bassinet or an infant car seat. The Cruz V3 seat reclines flat from birth, adds a magnetic buckle and sits higher, at 23.8 in against 20.5 in on the V2, per Strolleria.

How much storage does the Cruz V2 have?

Storage is the UPPAbaby Cruz V2's strong point. BabyGearLab and Lucie's List both give a 30 lb basket limit, and BabyGearLab listed impressive storage among its pros. That is the same limit UPPAbaby's newer V3 carries, so the upgrade gives you no extra cargo. A diaper bag, a jacket and a few shopping bags should fit. On a used stroller, check the basket fabric for tears and make sure the frame bars under it are straight.

How does the Cruz V2 grow with your baby?

Scroll through the stages below; the 3D stroller changes as you go. Drag it to turn it.

  1. 01 · The early months

    Seat, reclined

From 3 months, up to 50 lb (Snugglebugz). Multi-position; BabyGearLab found it reclines to almost 50 degrees, not flat

  2. 02 · Sitting up, through the toddler years

    Seat, upright

The seat is rated to 50 lb, so most children can ride until they no longer need a stroller.

Should you buy a Cruz V2 secondhand or a new Cruz V3?

Start with what changed. UPPAbaby lists the Cruz V3 at $899.99 and 26.5 lb. Its seat reclines flat from birth with an included infant insert, it adds FlexRide suspension, a magnetic buckle and a 3-year warranty, and UPPAbaby lists GREENGUARD Gold certification. The V2 seat starts at 3 months and weighs 25.5 lb. Basket size and the 50 lb seat limit are the same. A used V2 makes sense when your baby is past 3 months, or you already own an UPPAbaby infant car seat, and the price is well under the V3. Before paying, check the serial number with UPPAbaby and on the CPSC recall site, test the fold, brake and harness, and confirm any bassinet or adapters fit the V2, since the V2 bassinet does not fit the V3 frame.

Is a used Cruz V2 worth buying?

Often, yes. It weighs 25.5 lb, holds 30 lb in the basket and was BabyGearLab's Editors' Choice. Pay well under the V3's $899.99, and remember the seat starts at 3 months. Check the frame, wheels, brake, fold and harness, and look up the serial number for recalls.

Has the Cruz V2 been recalled?

We found no CPSC recall for the Cruz V2. A 2015 recall covered the bumper bar foam on 2015 Cruz strollers, model 0181, which is the older model. Recalls can be added later, so check the serial number on the CPSC site and with UPPAbaby before you buy.
