Babyzen YOYO2 Review: Still Worth Buying in 2026?

Short answer: The Babyzen YOYO2 is worth it used or on sale if you want a tiny travel stroller and can live with a small basket. It has been replaced by the Stokke YOYO3. BabyGearLab weighed it at 14 lb. Its seat suits 6 months to 4 years. Most accessories carry over to the YOYO3. Check parts and recalls first.

The YOYO2 is still one of the smallest-folding strollers you can buy secondhand. BabyGearLab measured 14 lb and a 3,500 cubic inch fold, and scored it 76. The Stokke YOYO3 that replaced it adds a taller seat back, a bigger canopy, larger front shock absorbers and, per Strolleria, a bigger basket, while weight barely changed. Most YOYO2 accessories and car seat adapters fit both. Buy a YOYO2 if the price is clearly under a new YOYO3 and the frame, wheels and brake are sound.

Who is the Babyzen YOYO2 for?

The Babyzen YOYO2 suits parents who travel a lot, ride trains and buses, or live where every inch of storage counts. Babyzen introduced it in 2020, according to Strolleria, and after Stokke bought Babyzen the line continued as the Stokke YOYO3. BabyGearLab now notes that the YOYO2 has been replaced. Today you will find it secondhand, refurbished or as leftover stock. The YOYO2 6+ seat is for children from 6 months to 4 years, per Babyzen's user guide, so for a newborn you need a separate newborn pack, bassinet or infant car seat. It works best as a second, travel stroller, or as the main stroller for city families who walk light. If you want a big basket for weekly shopping, a full-size stroller will serve you better.

How does the YOYO2 ride and steer?

The Babyzen YOYO2 has small wheels for its size, but they are suspended. BabyGearLab found the suspension absorbs bumps, the wider front wheels add stability, and it handles smooth surfaces and small curbs well. The rear wheels are 5.2 in foam-filled plastic, which BabyGearLab described as very dense with limited traction. That makes it a pavement, airport and mall stroller, not one for gravel or grass. Babyzen's user guide says it is not for running or skating. Strolleria says the Stokke YOYO3 has larger front shock absorbers, so it may feel a little smoother. On a used YOYO2, check that each wheel spins freely and that the brake holds. The user guide also says to engage the parking brake whenever you put your child in or take them out.

How big is the YOYO2 when folded?

BabyGearLab weighed the Babyzen YOYO2 at 14 lb and measured the fold at 17.5 in wide, 10 in high and 20 in long, about 3,500 cubic inches. The reviewers found it compact and liked the shoulder strap for carrying it hands-free. The fold takes two hands and three steps, which they called a little convoluted, and it does not stand on its own. That small size is the main reason to buy it. Strolleria says the YOYO3 weight is essentially unchanged. Airline rules differ, so check with your airline before you plan to carry it on, and keep it dry before folding, as the guide advises.

Is the YOYO2 comfortable and safe?

The Babyzen YOYO2 6+ seat is for children from 6 months to 4 years or 22 kg (48.5 lb), per Babyzen's user guide. BabyGearLab found the fabric soft and the recline good enough for naps, though not deep, and listed no leg rest and no peek-a-boo window as downsides. Strolleria gives the seat back as 16.5 in tall, against 18.5 in on the Stokke YOYO3, which also has a larger, extendable canopy with a peek-a-boo window you can close. For a newborn, Babyzen sold a separate newborn pack and bassinet. Strolleria says those newborn accessories fit both models. Check the harness and buckle on any used stroller.

How much storage does the YOYO2 have?

Storage is the Babyzen YOYO2's weak spot. Babyzen's user guide sets the basket limit at 5 kg (11 lb), and pockets on the canopy and mesh at 0.5 kg each. BabyGearLab called it one of the smallest baskets in its test group; a medium diaper bag barely fit. Strolleria says the Stokke YOYO3 basket holds 22 lb, so storage is one of the clearer upgrades. Plan on carrying a backpack.

How does the YOYO2 grow with your baby?

Scroll through the stages below; the 3D stroller changes as you go. Drag it to turn it.

  1. 01 · The early months

    Seat, reclined

From 6 months to 4 years (YOYO2 6+ user guide). One-hand recline; BabyGearLab says it reclines enough for naps but not deeply

  2. 02 · Sitting up, through the toddler years

    Seat, upright

The seat is rated to 48.5 lb, so most children can ride until they no longer need a stroller.

Should you buy a YOYO2 secondhand or a new Stokke YOYO3?

The two look alike, and many parts swap. Strolleria says the YOYO3 adds a taller seat back (18.5 in against 16.5 in), a larger extendable canopy, a closable peek-a-boo window, larger front shock absorbers, reflective wheels, a wider handlebar and a bigger basket, while the weight and size barely changed. It also says YOYO2 accessories fit the YOYO3, apart from the new handlebar, and both use the same car seat adapters. So a used YOYO2 makes sense when it is clearly cheaper and in good shape. Check the serial number with Stokke and on the CPSC recall site, test the fold and brake, and look for cracked plastic and worn wheels. Note that a 2024 CPSC recall covered some early YOYO3 strollers, not the YOYO2.

Babyzen YOYO2 FAQ

Is the Babyzen YOYO2 discontinued?

Yes. Stokke bought Babyzen, announced in December 2021, and the line is now sold as the Stokke YOYO3. Babyzen.com redirects to Stokke, and BabyGearLab says the YOYO2 has been replaced by the YOYO3. You can still find the YOYO2 secondhand or as leftover retailer stock.

What is the difference between the YOYO2 and YOYO3?

Strolleria lists a taller seat back on the YOYO3 (18.5 in against 16.5 in), a larger canopy, larger front shock absorbers, reflective wheels, a wider handlebar and a bigger basket. Weight and folded size are essentially unchanged, and most accessories and car seat adapters fit both.

Do YOYO2 accessories fit the Stokke YOYO3?

Mostly, yes. Strolleria says existing YOYO2 accessories fit the YOYO3, except that you need a replacement handlebar if you want the new handle. Both models use the same car seat adapters. Check Stokke's compatibility list for any piece you plan to reuse, such as a newborn pack.

Has the Babyzen YOYO2 been recalled?

We found no CPSC recall for the YOYO2 stroller. A 2024 CPSC recall covered some Stokke YOYO3 strollers, and Health Canada recalled a small number of YOYO bassinets, model 10216, in 2021. Check the serial number with Stokke and on the CPSC site before you buy used.
