Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Review: Buy a Used GT2 or a New GT3?
Short answer: The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 is worth it used or on sale, not at its old $419.99 list price. Baby Jogger replaced it with the City Mini GT3 in 2026. It weighs 22.4 lb, holds a child to 65 lb and folds with one hand. Its 10 lb basket is small, so check recalls, tires and the fold first.
Previous model. Baby Jogger has replaced it with the Baby Jogger City Mini GT3. Read our Baby Jogger City Mini GT3 review.

The City Mini GT2 is a light, simple stroller that is easy to find used. Baby Jogger lists it at 22.4 lb with a 65 lb seat limit, forever-air tires and a one-hand fold. Reviewers are split: Lucie's List liked how it handles bumps, while BabyGearLab found the frame flexy and the ride rough. The 10 lb basket is hard to reach. The GT3 is $479.99 new, so pay well under $419.99 for a clean GT2.
Who is the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 for?
The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 is for parents who want a light, sturdy everyday stroller and are happy to buy it used or as leftover stock. Baby Jogger says the GT2 was discontinued in 2026 and replaced by the City Mini GT3. Its last list price on babyjogger.com was $419.99. The GT2 weighs 22.4 lb and its seat holds a child up to 65 lb, which is more than many strollers, so one seat can last into the preschool years. It suits sidewalks, parks and gravel paths. It is not a jogging stroller, and Baby Jogger says so. If you need a large basket or a stroller that stands when folded, look elsewhere. If you find a clean GT2 well under the price of a new GT3 at $479.99, it is a sensible buy.
How does the City Mini GT2 ride and steer?
The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 has forever-air rubber tires that never go flat and all-wheel suspension, per Baby Jogger. Nordstrom lists the tires at 8.5 in. Reviewers disagree on the ride. Lucie's List said it shrugs off bumps and curbs and steers easily with one hand. BabyGearLab was less impressed: it gave maneuverability 4.3 out of 10, found the frame flexy and said you can feel every bump in the road. It did praise how it turns in tight spaces. Both agree it suits pavement and park paths better than trails, and BabyGearLab suggested larger or wider-set wheels would help. The front wheels lock straight for rougher ground, per Lucie's List. When buying used, check the tires for wear, spin each wheel and test the hand-operated parking brake.

How big is the City Mini GT2 when folded?
Baby Jogger lists the City Mini GT2 at 22.4 lb, and BabyGearLab weighed it at the same. It has Baby Jogger's one-hand fold with an auto-lock: you pull a strap in the seat and it folds. Baby Jogger's US page gives no folded size, but its EU page lists 78 x 65 x 26.5 cm, about 30.7 x 25.6 x 10.4 in. BabyGearLab measured about 33 x 25.6 x 11.2 in and said it folds fairly flat with few parts sticking out. That flat shape slides into most car trunks. Baby Jogger does not describe the GT2 as standing when folded, while its GT3 page describes a self-standing fold. It is not carry-on size, though Baby Jogger says it meets Disney size rules.
Is the City Mini GT2 comfortable and safe?
The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 seat has a near-flat recline and adjustable calf support, per Baby Jogger. BabyGearLab found the recline easy to lower but said raising it takes two hands. The full-coverage canopy is UV 50+ and has a magnetic peekaboo window. Lucie's List said some parents find the seat lacks a fully upright position. Baby Jogger lists a no-rethread harness on the eco edition. For a newborn, most parents click in an infant car seat; the included adapter fits Baby Jogger seats. BabyGearLab rated kid comfort 7.2 out of 10. When buying used, check the harness, buckle and canopy for wear.
How much storage does the City Mini GT2 have?
Baby Jogger lists the City Mini GT2 basket at 10 lb in the US and 4.5 kg on its EU page. BabyGearLab's spec table says 12 lb, but Baby Jogger's figure is used here. BabyGearLab said a large diaper bag fits if squeezed, but a crossbar makes big items hard to reach. Lucie's List called the basket too hard to access. There is a pocket behind the seat for small things. There is no parent console in the box; Baby Jogger sells one separately. The GT3 keeps the 10 lb basket.

Should you buy a City Mini GT2 used or the new GT3?
On Baby Jogger's own pages, the City Mini GT3 is $479.99 against $419.99 for the GT2. It weighs 21.6 lb, 0.8 lb less, and is 23.6 in wide open, 2 in narrower. Both hold a child to 65 lb and have a 10 lb basket, and neither is for jogging. The GT3 adds a magnetic buckle and three peekaboo windows with magnetic closures, and Baby Jogger describes its fold as self-standing. The GT2 came with a belly bar, which is sold separately on the GT3. A used GT2 makes sense when it is clearly cheaper than a new GT3. Before you pay, check recalls on cpsc.gov, test the fold and brake, and check that any adapter or console you need still comes with it, since parts for a discontinued model can be harder to find.
