Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 Review: A Double for a Baby and a Preschooler Under $200?

Short answer: The Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 is worth it if you need a cheap way to carry a baby and a preschooler. Baby Trend lists it at $199.99 and often sells it for less. At 29 lb it seats two children and lets the older one stand or sit on a bench. The seats barely recline, and expert reviews of the original model were poor.

The Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 does one job at a low price: it carries a younger child in front and lets an older one sit, perch on a bench or stand at the back. Baby Trend lists it at $199.99, and it folds with one hand to 34 x 22.63 x 16 in. The 2.0 swaps the original's wobbly twin front wheels for a single front wheel. The seats barely recline, and BabyGearLab ranked the original model last among double strollers. Buy it for short trips, not all-day comfort.

Who is the Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 for?

The Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 is for families with a baby or young toddler and an older child who still gets tired on walks. The younger child sits in front. The older one can sit in the rear seat, or you can take that seat out so they can sit on a bench or stand on the platform. Baby Trend lists it at $199.99, far below most double strollers. Baby Trend says the front seat holds 40 lb and the rear seat and platform 50 lb each, for an older child from 2.5 years and up to 40 in tall. It also takes Baby Trend Secure Lift and EZ Lift infant car seats without an adapter. It is less suited to twins, because the two seats are not equal and the rear seat reclines only slightly. If both children still nap on the go, a side-by-side or a convertible double will be more comfortable.

How does the Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 ride and steer?

The 2.0 rides on a single front wheel, with 8 in front and 9 in rear EVA foam tires, according to Target's listing. Baby Trend says the single front wheel was added for maneuverability. That matters, because BabyGearLab's 2021 review of the original Sit N' Stand Double said its dual plastic front wheels made the whole stroller wobble and feel rickety, and that pushing got harder on rough ground and gravel. We have not found an expert review of the 2.0, so we cannot say how much better it is. At 49.25 in long, it is a long tandem, so tight turns in shops take some planning. Small foam tires suit sidewalks, malls and school runs better than grass or trails. There is one rear brake, and no suspension is listed.

How big is the Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 when folded?

Baby Trend lists the Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 at 29 lb. That is about what many single full-size strollers weigh, and light for a double. It folds with one hand, with both seats still on, to 22.63 x 34 x 16 in, per Baby Trend. That should fit the trunk of most sedans and SUVs lying flat. Open, it measures 49.25 x 22.63 x 43 in, and at 22.63 in wide it passes through standard doors easily. BabyGearLab found the original model's fold took three or four steps and required bending down, and its brakes were stiff. We have not seen a review that tests the 2.0's fold. It is not an airline carry-on stroller.

Is the Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 comfortable and safe?

Both seats of the Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 have a five-point harness, per Baby Trend. Baby Trend's answer on Target says both seats recline slightly but not flat, so they are not suited to napping. The front seat gets a removable two-panel canopy that ratchets, and the rear seat has a fixed canopy with sun visors. In bench mode the rear canopy has to come off. BabyGearLab found the original model's seats thinly padded and its canopies small. Babies too young to sit up can ride in a Baby Trend Secure Lift or EZ Lift infant car seat. Target lists JPMA certification. BabyGearLab notes a CPSC warning about the detachable canopy on some Sit N' Stand strollers, so check cpsc.gov for your model.

How much storage does the Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 have?

The Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 has a removable basket that you can reach from the front and back, per Baby Trend, which calls it large but gives no weight limit for it. BabyGearLab rated the original model's basket at only 5 lb and said it was hard to reach. A parent console holds a phone and two drinks, and each child gets a swing-away tray with a cup holder and snack area.

How do the sit and stand modes work?

The Sit N' Stand Double 2.0 has four ways to ride. The younger child sits in the front seat, which holds 40 lb according to Baby Trend. Behind it, the older child can use the full rear seat with its own harness and canopy. Take the rear seat out and the stroller turns into a bench seat, or the child can stand on the platform and hold on. Baby Trend says the rear seat and platform each hold 50 lb, for children at least 2.5 years old and up to 40 in, and its answers on Target warn that more than 90 lb combined can make the stroller unstable. A Baby Trend Secure Lift or EZ Lift infant car seat can click in too. It carries two children at most. This setup is why parents buy it: a preschooler can hop on and off without a second stroller.
